TV Show Plot For Wonderful World of Disney, The

The Wonderful World of Disney was originally hosted by Walt Disney. The show was something of a hodgepodge of material compiled from the Disney studio library, including animated cartoons. About half of the material was pre-existing, half original. The Wonderful World of Disney was the first television series started by a major film company. Most movie studios were not brave enough to take on television, fearing that it would compromise their integrity.

Much of the original material on early episodes of The Wonderful World of Disney was meant to publicize the newly opened Disneyland. The shows were entertaining, so as to avoid resembling blatant commercials for the theme park. Other informational features were put together to advertise upcoming Disney productions such as Darby O’Gill and the Little People and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
