Universal Studios produced the well known ‘70s TV show Emergency! It was created by Jack Webb and Robert Cinader, who also created the television show Adam 12.

TV Show Plot For Emergency

Emergency! explored the early years of the Los Angeles County Fire Departments’ Paramedic program. The main characters portrayed were meant to be Fire Station 51 personnel. They included John Gage and Roy DeSoto, firefighters and paramedics portrayed by Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe, respectively. The firefighters would work with the emergency room staff of Rampart General Hospital, which included Dr. Kelly Brackett (played by Robert Fuller), Dr. Joe Early (played by Bobby Troup), and nurse Dixie McCall (played by Julie London.)

Other Emergency! characters included Captain Dick Hammer (played by both Dick Hammer and John Smith), real life firefighter Mike Stoker, Chet Kelly (played by Tim Donnelly), Marco Lopez as himself, Captain Hank Stanley (played by Michael Norrell), and Dr. Michael Morton (played by Ron Pinkard).

Trivia for the TV Show Emergency

The dispatcher heard on Emergency! was a real life dispatcher for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Sam Lanier.

In the early seasons of Emergency!, the show’s mascot was a dog called Boot. In later years, he was replaced by Henry, a Basset Hound.
