The TV show Eight is Enough was about a Sacramento, California family that included eight children. Father Tom Bradford was a columnist for a fictional Sacramento newspaper, while his wife Joan stayed home to take care of the kids. The actress playing Joan, Diana Hyland, fell ill and died shortly in to the first season. In the second season, Tom it is revealed that Tom has become a widower.
