TV Show Plot For Donny and Marie

Donny and Marie was a vehicle to showcase the talents of brother and sister Donny and Marie. Donny had first rose to popularity as a member of the group the Osmonds with his brothers. Marie Osmond was one of the youngest artists in history to make it to the top of the U.S. country charts with her hit song “Paper Roses” in the year 1973. After the pair teamed up to guest host a week on the Mike Douglas Show, they were offered their own program by Fred Silverman, president of ABC television.

In addition to its famous ice skating introduction, Donny and Marie consisted of comedy skits and performances of music by the pair. “I’m a Little Bit Country” was the duo’s most popular number on the show. At the end of each episode, there would be a musical finale complete with colored balloons floating to the ceiling that matched the costumes and set of that episode.
