TV Show Plot For Barnaby Jones

The story of Barnaby Jones involved the team up of Barnaby Jones, a retired detective, with Betty, his retired daughter in law. The two begin working together in order to solve the murder of his son, who was her husband. They are so successful that they decide to continue the partnership after the case is solved.

In the year 1976, J.R. (Mark Shera), the son of Barnaby’s cousin, became a character on Barnaby Jones after his father was murdered. He helps Barnaby and Betty solve the murder, then stays on and continues working with them while he attends law school.

In the 1990s, Shera and Lee Merriwether, who played Betty, attempted to persuade Buddy Ebsen to reprise his role in a new version of Barnaby Jones. Ebsen refused.
