TV Show Plot For All in the Family

Set in the Astoria district of Queens in New York City, All in the Family centered around the family of Archie Bunker, a blue collar worker often referred to as a “loveable bigot.” His daughter, Gloria, was played by Sally Struthers. Gloria was married to Michael Stivic (Rob Reiner), a liberal, who frequently clashed with Archie during the course of the show. Jean Stapleton played Edith, Archie’s wife, was quiet and plainspoken, yet often came off as one of the show’s wiser characters.

In spite of its popularity, All in the Family was quite controversial for its inclusion of offensive language and its exploration of such issues as racism, homosexuality, rape, and impotence.
