Yes Artist Bio and LyricsThe English prog rock band Yes started in London in the year 1968. Sharp contrasts in tonal dynamics, long song lengths, and showcasing of its members’ instrumental prowess are all hallmarks of the Yes sound. They often use classical songwriting structures in blending with a contemporary rock sound, yielding an innovative form of music unprecedented in popular music. Throughout the years, although the band has suffered many line up changes, Yes continues to be a formidable presence on the rock music stage. They boast a loyal fan base.
The roots of the band can be traced back to the year 1968, when it was founded as a project of singer Jon Anderson and Chris Squire, who plays the bass. Anderson was formerly a member of the Warriors, a beat band, as well as the group Gun. Squire’s former bands included the Syn. After the Syn broke up, Squire spent a significant amount of time developing his bass playing skills. He claims to have been inspired by the Who’s bassist, John Enstwistle. With Anderson and Squire paired up, Yes was born. The rest is history. The albums of Yes include Yes, Time and a Word, The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge, Yessongs, Relayer, Tales from Topographic Oceans, Tormato, Going for the One, Drama, Yesshows, 90125, Union, 9012Live: The Solos, Big Generator, Open Your Eyes, Keys to Ascension 2, Talk, Keys to Ascension, Yesterdays, Classic Yes, Yesstory, Highlights: The Very Best of Yes, The Best of Yes, Key Studio, The Ladder, Magnification, and House of Yes: Live From House of Blues. |
