White Plains Artist Bio and LyricsThe popular British music act White Plains was a manufactured band that existed between the years of 1969 and 1976. The vast majority of White Plains’s music was composed and produced by Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway.
Throughout the 1970s, White Plains scored numerous hits, including “My Baby Loves Lovin’,” a single from the year 1970. They followed that up with “When You Are A King” in the year 1971, which made it to Number Thirteen on the charts in the United Kingdom. The band suffered numerous line up changes throughout the course of its brief existence. They were formed from the remnants of the group the Flower Pot Men, and originally featured Tony Burrows on lead vocals. The most popular song of White Plains was undoubtedly “My Baby Loves Lovin’,” which was recorded in late 1969 and released in early 1970 on the Deram Records imprint of the Decca Records label. The line up of the band included singer Tony Burrows, who would leave after the 1969 recording sessions; pianist Pete Wilson; Robin Shaw on bass, Ricky Wolff on keyboards, saxophone, flute, and guitars, who would remain in the band until the year 1973; drummer Roger Hills; Robin Box on lead guitar; and Ron Reynolds, who joined the band on organ in the year 1973. The best known songs of White Plains include “My Baby Loves Lovin’,” “I’ve Got You On My Mind,” “Julie Do Ya Love Me,” “When You Are a King,” and “Step Into a Dream.” |
