Donny Osmond became popular singing with a group featuring him and his brothers, the Osmonds. He also had a prolific solo career throughout the decade, and became a prominent teen idol. Alongside David Cassidy, he was one of the most featured cover boys for the magazine Tiger Beat. His hit single “Puppy Love” catapulted the young performer to international fame. Marie Osmond first made it to Number One on the Billboard Country Music charts in the year 1973 with her single “Paper Roses.” The pair also had a syndicated television show between the years of 1976 and 1979. After ABC president Fred Silverman saw the brother and sister team guest host a week on the Mike Douglas Show, he offered Donny and Marie their own program. The show followed on the heals of their success with a series of remakes of popular songs, including “I’m Leaving It (All) Up To You,” “Deep Purple,” “Make The World Go Away,” and “Morning Side of the Mountain.” Both Donny and Marie continue to pursue solo careers to this day.
