Donna Fargo Artist Bio and LyricsBorn Yvonne Vaughan on the 10th of November 1945 in Mount Airy, North Carolina, Donna Fargo is a renowned country music performer and songwriter. She is perhaps best known for her early 1970s tracks “The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA” and “Funny Face.” These songs scored her a crossover pop audience. But her devoted country music fans have been able to appreciate more of her oeuvre. Fargo has made it to the top of the country charts on six different occasions. She has had dozens of more songs in the Top Twenty.
Fargo’s home town of Mount Airy was a noted destination for traditional mountain music. Fargo became interested in music as a child, but ultimately decided to go in to teaching instead. It was in Los Angeles, where she was working as a high school English teacher, where Fargo met her future husband and manager, Stan Silver. At night she began singing in clubs while continuing to teach during the day. It was in the 1970s that Fargo would become a country music superstar.
