Chuck Berry Artist Bio and LyricsBorn Charles Edward Anderson Berry in 1926, Chuck Berry is a famous American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is widely regarded as one of the true pioneers of the rock and roll sound. As Cub Koda once attested, Chuck Berry was the first rock and roll breakthrough artist and none other was more important to the development of the genre. When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opened, Berry was one of the first artists to be inducted. He also received Kennedy Center Honors in the year 2000 alongside Clint Eastwood, Angela Lansbury, Plácido Domingo, and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Among Berry’s most famous songs are “Johnny B.
