Chris Rea Artist Bio and LyricsBorn Christopher Anton Rea in 1951 in Middlesbrough, England, Chris Rea is a popular 70's singer-songwriter.
Chris Rea first came to prominence on the European continent throughout the 1980s, during the course of which he released eight records. But it was not until the middle of the decade with the release of the singles “Josephine” and “Stainsby Girls” that listeners in his home country began paying attention. These tracks both appeared on the 1985 album Shamrock Diaries, which would be followed up with On the Beach and Dancing with Strangers. All three of these albums became massive hits in the United Kingdom. The release of a 1988 compilation gave Chris Rea’s new domestic fan base a taste of what they had been missing all those years. By the release of The Road to Hell at the end of the decade, Rea’s reputation as a superstar was cemented in his home country. The album quickly went to Number One on the charts. The album did not do so well in the United States, however. The albums of Chris Rea include Whatever Happened to Benny Santini, Deltics, Tennis, Chris Rea, Water Sign, Wired to the Moon, Shamrock Diaries, On the Beach, Dancing with Strangers, The Road to Hell, Auberge, God’s Great Banana Skin, Espresso Logic, La Passione, The Blue Café, The Road to Hell: Part Two, King of the Beach, Dancing Down the Stony Road / Stony Road, Hofner Blue Notes, The Blue Jukebox, Blue Guitars, and Blue Street (Five Guitars). |
