Thomas began his career performing with the Triumphs, but went solo shortly thereafter, releasing a cover version Hank Williams’s “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” that would catapult him to fame in 1966. Three years later, Thomas would be in the spotlight once again with the release of the songs “Hooked on a Feeling” and “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head.”

In the 1970s, Thomas scored another Number One hit with “(Hey Won’t You Play” Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song.” Highlights of his career from the 1980s include a duet on the theme to Growing Pains with Jennifer Warnes, as well as the hit song “Two Car Garage.” In recent years, while Thomas’s name rarely make it into the mainstream spotlight, he nevertheless maintains a loyal fan base, particularly among contemporary Christian music devotees. Thomas has co-authored two autobiographical books. He also starred in the film Jory.
