Andy Gibb Artist Bio and LyricsAndy Gibbs is a 70’s artist who left the Bee Gees to focus on his solo career. (He left the band right before the Bee Gees came out with the smash soundtrack album for the ‘Saturday Night Fever’ movie in 1977.) Andy’s hit solo songs of the 70’s include ‘I Just Want to Be Your Everything’, ‘Desire’, ‘(Love Is) Thicker Than Water’ and ‘Shadow Dancing’.
Andy sang two duets with Olivia Newton-John to raise money for UNICEF. The songs, ‘I Can’t Help It’ and ‘Rest Your Love On Me’ were performed at the United Nations General Assembly. Among the line up there were the Bee Gees and Abba. Andy Gibb divorced from his Australian wife Kim Reeder in 1978. Their only child, a daughter named Peta, had been conceived prior to their wedding day in July of 1976. Andy and Kim had been high school sweethearts. Andy was only 18 when they married. Gibbs’ stardom was reaching heights beyond belief. He sought solace in illegal drugs and alcohol. In 1988, Andy Gibbs died at age 30 from myocarditis, or inflammation of the heart. His years of alcohol and cocaine usage contributed to his untimely death. |
