10cc Artist Bio and LyricsThis 70’s band formed in 1972 in Manchester, United Kingdom. The band members of 10cc produced four songs that made it to the top ten charts in the U.K.: ‘Donna’ (No. 2 in 1972), ‘Rubber Bullets’ (No. 1 in 1973), ‘The Dean and I’ (No. 10 in 1973) and ‘The Wall’ (No. 10 in 1974). The band’s sound was a mixture of rock styles blended with British overtones.
In 1975, 10cc saw international fame with its song ‘I’m Not in Love’ from The Original Soundtrack album. In the United Kingdom it rose to No.1, while it climbed to No. 2 in the United States. The original band was made up of members Eric Stewart, Lol Crème, Kevin Godley, and Graham Gouldman. Stewart was formerly a member in the bands Mindbender and Hotlegs. The latter band produced the U.K. top 5 hit ‘Neanderthal Man’ in 1970. Gouldman had formerly been a songwriter for bands like Herman’s Hermits and the Yardbirds. Later on in 1977, the band changed its lineup; Stewart and Gouldman stayed on while Crème and Godley left. Rick Fenn, Stuart Tosh and Tony O’Malley then joined 10cc. Duncan Mackay joined the band a year later, in 1978. |
